What are Residential Services?
They are residential settings. They are licensed by OPWDD. They are either operated by OPWDD or not-for-profit agencies. Settings include: supervised group living, semi-independent, or supported. There are also other residential settings that include home for 15 or more people. Also see Family Care, and Housing/ISS.
How do I choose a Residential Services Program?
People seeking OPWDD services must contact the Regional Front Door in your area first to obtain eligibility. Once eligibility is determined, the Front Door will help you figure out which services are best for you and get you into services as quickly as possible. If you have a service coordinator, they will help you too. People who already have OPWDD eligibility can work with their service coordinator to change a service or get a new one. If you do not have a service coordinator, the Front Door will help you get one. Contact information for the Front Door can be found at this link: http://www.opwdd.ny.gov/welcome-front-door/Front_Door_Contact_Numbers
