Description:The Mozaic (formerly Arc of Yates) provides guardianship services through the Article 17-A Corporate Guardianship Program administered by NYSARC, Inc. The Corporate Guardianship Program provides services to individuals who are in need of guardianship but have no family or natural supports to fulfill this role. Once approved by the court, NYSARC, Inc. is named as the Legal Guardian, however services are provided directly though the Arc of Yates Guardianship Committee.
The Mozaic (formerly Arc of Yates) committee members are volunteers who have an interest in supporting people in need of guardianship. Many committee members are legal guardians for their own family member. In addition to personal experience, members may have an area of expertise that assists the committee with decision making. Medical, legal, and spiritual expertise are some areas that enable the committee to make informed decisions in the best interest of the individual.
Committee members regularly visit each person for whom the Chapter provides primary guardianship to learn his or her personal wishes, preferences, beliefs and needs. The committee keeps these at the forefront when advocating for and making decisions that are in the best interest of the individual. Whenever possible the individual is involved in decision making to the best of his or her ability.
Mozaic (formerly Arc of Yates) can also provide support and assistance to family members who may be considering guardianship for a loved one.
