NYSD provides comprehensive social and rehabilitative services on a nonsectarian basis for people who are deaf or deaf-blind and reside in the New York metropolitan area. The staff of NYSD is able to communicate directly with its constituency through the use of sign language, tactile communication, lipreading or any other form of communication in which the consumer feels most comfortable. This ensures full accessibility to all the agency programs and services. NYSD offers the following: Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, Substance Abuse Treatment Program, Service Coordination Program, Ryan White AIDS/HIV Case Management Program, Residential Services, Communication Skills Program, American Sign Language Academy, Interpreter Referral Service, Berger Deaf Scholars Program, Jewish Continuity, and other Services
