This program is a mental health unit operated by a State Psychiatric Center in a NYS Correctional Facility, i. e. prison, to provide regular mental services to inmates in that correctional facility. All prison-based forensic mental health program units provide at a minimum outpatient services similar to those provided by mental health clinic programs in the community including screening and assessment of inmates in response to referrals; individual and/or group therapy services; and the evaluation of inmates for certain prison programs such as Work Release and for the Division of Parole. This program is distinct from the inpatient program for prison inmates operated by the Central New York Forensic Facility in Marcy, New York.
