Program Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Reirement Community:

Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Reirement Community

  • Description:

NNORC is an acronym for: Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community . A NORC is a place where people settled, raised their children, and “aged in place” over many years, so that today their community has an unusually high percentage of seniors. JSPOA’s NNORC is a pilot support program for senior homeowners 55 years and older who wish to remain in their homes and live independently, but require some form of assistance.

JSPOA convened a Task Force of local service providers and formed a Senior Leadership Council to assist with determining the community needs. The first service provided by the Task Force and the Leadership Council was to publish a community resource guide of business that provide minor home repairs, gardening/landscaping and housekeeping chores.
