Program Transportation:

Transportation

  • Description:

Primarily assist the frail elderly (60+ years of age) who have no other means to get transportation. Transportation services are offered door-through-door. Services are provided by volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles. *If in a wheelchair, individuals must be able to transfer themselves from wheelchair into vehicle.

This transportation is not "on-demand" like a taxi or bus service. A person must first call Faith In Action to request a specific service, then return a signed acknowledgment of client policy. Once the initial steps are made, you must call to arrange for a volunteer driver with at least 3 day advance notice for local trips and at least a weeks notice for out of county trips.

Volunteer transportation may be utilized for recreation, for medical appointments or for once a week routine trips like shopping or hair salon.
