Description:The purpose of the Pooled Trust is to provide an individual with a physical or mental disability, or an individual with a chronic or acquired illness, an alternative to the Medicaid “spend down.” The supplemental needs Pooled Trust helps individuals who have too much monthly income or financial resources to qualify for Medicaid. Rather than sending in their excess income to the county Department of Social Services, money is put into a Pooled Trust account and can then be used for the individual to meet their “spend down” requirement for Medicaid coverage.
