Emergency Assistance for Adults - EAA

    Description

    The EAA Unit evaluates the need for emergency financial assistance for SSI recipients. EAA authorizes benefits when necessary for true emergencies beyond the individual’s control. Examples of emergencies are:

    • replacement of SSI checks (usually due to burglary or theft and verified with a police report)

    • provision of emergency housing and emergency moving expenses

    • damages due to catastrophes such as fires or floods.

    • An EAA funded emergency shelter allowance is also available to persons who have AIDS or

    persons who have tested positive for HIV and have an HIV-related illness provided that certain eligibility criteria are met.

    Who Is Eligible?

    Over 18, on SSI and with a financial emergency that was beyond the individual’s control.

    Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
