Hudson Valley Community Services (HVCS) merged with Cornerstone Family Healthcare. Cornerstone and HVCS is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center with a mission to provide high quality, comprehensive, primary and preventative health care services in an environment of caring, dignity and respect to all people regardless of their ability to pay. Cornerstone has been responsive to meeting the needs of local communities with a continued emphasis on the underserved and those without access to health care regardless of race, economic status, age, sex, sexual orientation, disability, vulnerable, disenfranchised and underserved communities like the LGBT community, people who use drugs, prisoners, and immigrants. HVCS specializes in helping people with HIV/AIDS, drug use, sexually transmitted infections, and hepatitis C, case management and prevention. Clients who go to HVCS in need of care coordination who have HIV/AIDS, mental health issues or two or more chronic illnesses can receive no-cost assistance. There is now a SNAP (food stamp) access and education program. A two van-based drug prevention program, one of which is the region’s only syringe exchange program. They have been able to slowly increase emergency services, such as food pantries and housing support for all their clients regardless of HIV status. They offer cognitive behavioral interventions to decrease recidivism among jail inmates.
