Description:The Children With Special Needs Program offers a variety of services to assist families with children who have developmental delays, learning disabilities, or medical disabilities. It is a statewide program that provides information and referral services for health and related services for families. Some programs offer case management services. Early Intervention Program: Coordination and arrangement of services for children birth to three years old who have a developmental delay, a disability or have medically complex needs. Services include early identification, screening and assessment, special instruction, speech pathology and audiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychological services, medical services for diagnostic for evaluation purposes, nursing, social work, family training, counseling, home visits, parent network, vision services, assistive technology, and other approved services.
Child Find (formerly ICHAP): Assists with the early identification and referral to services in the community and assisting families of children birth to three years old. A public health nurse makes home visits at timed intervals to provide support and reassurance about growth and development of the child.
Pre-K Program: For children three to five years old. Arranged through the school district with the Committee on Pre-School Education. Includes for provision of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, audiology, psychological services, special instruction, vision/mobility, assistive technology, music therapy and transportation for children who meet the criteria.
""PHCP"" Physically Handicapped Children's Program: Provides financial services for medical and orthodontic care for physically disabling conditions or serious chronic illness. Children birth up to their 21st birthday who meet the medical and financial criteria qualify.
