Medicaid Non-Ambulatory (Wheelchair-Bound) – Ambulette Services

  • Description:

    Wheelchair-Bound (Non-Ambulatory) Medicaid Recipients can elect to receive Empire DM, Inc., Door-to-Door Non-Ambulatory Services via ambulette. Late model ambulettes are used to transport Non-Ambulatory (those that are wheelchair-bound, use a walker or use crutches) Medicaid Recipients to and from the services covered by the Medicaid program. Medicaid enrollment and authorization of non-emergency ambulette service is required to ensure that Medicaid enrollees use the means of transportation most appropriate to their medical needs. Orders for non-emergency ambulette services shall be made in advance by either the enrollee or the enrollee’s medical provider.
