Pregnancy Support

    Support Services:

    If you are facing a planned or unplanned pregnancy, we can help! In addtion to our FREE Pregnancy Tests, our trained peer counselors provide emotional support and educational information concerning the development of the fetus and information needed to help young women make informed decisions regarding their pregnancy.

    Alight offers childbirth & infant care classes, baby clothing & supplies, diapers, maternity clothing, referrals and a listening ear.

    Diaper Program - FREE

    Based on income eligibility, clients may register their children in the program to receive free diapers once a month on a first-come first-served basis. Please come during these designated hours to register and to pick up diapers.

    Diaper Program Hours:

    Monday and Wednesday

    10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

    Wednesday Evening 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

    Friday 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

    Necessary I.D.'s to register:

    Registrant's Photo I.D.

    WIC or Benefit Card

    Child's Birth Certificate.

    Caring Peer Counselors

    Caring Counselors providing education and emotional support.

    *Crisis pregnancy issues

    *Post abortion counseling & support group

    *Additional support for clients involved in an educational program.

    Stork Room-FREE

    Infant, toddler and maternity clothing is provided free of charge to individuals and families in need, along with baby supplies and accessories.

    Large items such as cribs, strollers, and play pens are available to clients actively participating in our educational programs and earning "Learn & Earn Bucks".

    Post Abortion Support:

    One on One or group sessions available.

    Post-abortion support groups are offered at various locations throughout the Capital Region and Hudson, NY. New groups are formed as needed.

    Pregnancy Testing:

    FREE and CONFIDENTIAL pregnancy tests.

    Clients participate in a brief intake and then perform a self-administered pregnancy test. Additional educational and support services are available. Appointments preferred, but Walk-ins are welcome.

    Child Birth Classes:

    Birth and Beginnings Education (B.A.B.E)

    A unique 4-week course designed to help prepare teens, young adults and their coaches for the experience of childbirth. This FREE course includes instruction, demonstration, and practice of comfort measures and relaxation techniques used during labor and delivery. Classroom experience will be reinforced with helpful educational hand-outs and the viewing of video clips. Participant should be in her third trimester of pregnancy.

    Course Outline

    *Brief overview of fetal development and normal discomforts of pregnancy

    *What is labor including signs & symptoms

    *Breathing and relaxation techniques

    *Labor coping strategies and comfort measures

    *Choices in childbirth

    *Gain confidence for your childbirth experience

    Infant Care Classes:

    A 4-week course meeting weekly for one and a half hour sessions in a group setting. Offered FREE of charge to new mothers, new fathers, and parents-to-be. Instruction includes the basic care of infants such as feeding, bathing, diapering, nurturing and safety issues.

    *Teething, Introducing Solid Foods

    *Importance of Play and Reading

    *Understanding Developmental Milestones
