This is a tax credit for New York State residents with limited income who pay rent or who pay taxes on property owned. You get a tax credit in the form of a deduction when you file taxes. If all members of your household are under age 65 your tax credit can be as much as $75. If at least one member of your household is age 65 or older the credit can be as much as $375.
