Catholic Charities of Onondaga County is one of Central New York’s leading not-for-profit human services agencies, providing compassionate care and advocacy for all people in need, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or nationality. Incorporated in 1923, Catholic Charities today improves the lives of more than 19,000 people in Onondaga County each year, ranging in age from infants to senior citizens. Their programs focus on children and families, at-risk youth, refugees, the homeless, those in need of emergency assistance, and the elderly, as well as disadvantaged, addicted, and/or developmentally disabled individuals. The sheer diversity of programs -- more than 25 in all, operated at multiple sites throughout Onondaga County -- indicates the resources this agency brings to the entire regional community. Catholic Charities has more than 250 dedicated employees and scores of volunteers. They are dedicated to providing services at the agency level, the neighborhood level, and the home-based level. Utilizing evidence-based approaches, they bring comfort and relief to those who are in need while assisting them to function at a higher level.
